Emerson is a Principal Research Analyst for soybean complex and lead of Brazil agricultural commodities research within S&P Global Commodity Insights . He has over 15 years of industry and market experience. Based out of the Memphis, Tennessee, office, his main responsibilities are soybean market research including fundamentals analysis including supply and demand projections and price forecasting. Emerson also leads a team of agricultural economists within S&P Global Commodity Insights Brazil that focus on oilseeds grains, cotton, biofuels, proteins and crop production. He also has extensive interaction with the research area regarding consulting and research teams in North America, South America and Europe where specific expertise is applicable that may require ag commodities expertise. His career has been spent on both US and Brazil, Before joining IHS Markit(now part of S&P Global) in 2017, Emerson worked for 11 years at SLC Agricola, a major farming enterprise in Brazil where his responsibilities included commodity market analysis and risk management activities. At SLC Agricola, his focus was on soybeans, corn, cotton and fertilizer markets.

Emerson has undergraduate and master's degrees in agronomy from Federal University of Santa Maria and a master's degree in agribusiness from Kansas State University.
