Ms. Peng, an associate director with the Gas, Power, and Energy Futures team at IHS Markit, specializes in the economic drivers behind the low-carbon energy transition. Ms. Peng's areas of expertise include global carbon markets dynamics, carbon pricing mechanisms as well as carbon offsets. Her current research focuses on national carbon tax and pricing systems, voluntary carbon markets, corporate carbon pricing assumptions and impact analysis of carbon pricing on market fundamentals. Her extended research also covers climate-related strategies of financial institutions, private investors, and energy companies, with a special focus on emerging markets and state-backed entities.
Prior to joining the Gas, Power, and Energy Futures team, Ms. Peng was a strategy consultant with the IHS Markit Energy and Natural Resources consulting team, where she specialized in helping clients with company strategy, project-based decision making, financial modeling, risk assessments, and economic and sensitivity analysis. Her work centered on the energy industry but also expanded to pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and infrastructure. Ms. Peng holds a Bachelor of Science in math and economics, a master's degree in gender and development from the London School of Economics, and a master's degree in economics from Cambridge University, United Kingdom.
