The Chinese economy is facing multiple headwinds in the short term, stemming from the sluggish recovery, property sector difficulties, and high commodity prices amid a global recession risk. As a result, the short-term policy focus has shifted to maintaining economic growth stability and energy supply security. Nonetheless, the long-term goals of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality around 2060 are firmly committed. Indeed, recent policies indicate an acceleration of renewable additions and energy market reform to achieve decarbonization goals.

During this Energy Briefing, S&P Global Commodity Insights experts will discuss China's energy policies and the implications on gas and power markets, including price outlooks, in the next few years as well as the measures taken toward the long-term carbon ambitions. Moreover, we will also share our latest analysis on the global energy market including LNG supply and demand balance amid uncertainty in Russian pipeline supply to Europe, the energy transition in Southeast Asia, the residential energy storage market in Europe and US, and the global energy and climate scenarios towards 2050.
