Although the Black Sea has a long history of hydrocarbon investigation - with the first exploration wells drilled already in the 60's - it remains underexplored compared with other areas like the North Sea or the Gulf of Mexico. To date, slightly more than 300 exploratory wells were drilled in the Black Sea, for the vast majority on the shelf. Deep water drilling only started in the 2010's and led to significant gas discoveries, first in Romanian waters with Domino and more recently in Turkey with the Sakarya gas discovery made in 2020.
During these Black Sea webinar series, our regional experts will present a country-by-country review of the recent activity in the area as well as an outlook of what is expected for the coming years.
